- It's time to start planning for the annual ACWC Members' Exhibit, scheduled to open on January 14, 2011. All ACWC member artists are encouraged to display one or two pieces in the ACWC Gallery. The ACWC was recently awarded a grant from the Wyoming Foundation to create a booklet featuring the many artists living and producing fine art in the region. If you would like to have your work included in this project please contact the ACWC for more details.

Sonnenberg Photo Contest & Fall Exhibit
Deadline is Mon. Sept. 6. Three major categories of images – Landscape, Architecture and People – will be featured in a juried Fall Photo Exhibit at Sonnenberg’s 1887 Mansion and will be on display from Sept. 18 – approximately Oct. 21. Announcement of the jury winners (12 prizes across 3 categories) will take place Oct. 15. Photos must have been taken at the historic 50-acre property of Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park in Canandaigua. Info and entry forms are available online at www.sonnenberg.org

Boots and Shoes: Variations on a Theme - The Shoe Factory Art Co-op, Rochester’s emerging Artists’ Cooperative, is inviting Rochester area artists to create and submit a work of art inspired by the title of our 2010 fall show, Boots and Shoes: Variations on a Theme. Erie Canalway Photo Contest
- Capture the beauty, history and character of the Erie, Cayuga-Seneca, Oswego and Champlain Canals and their surrounding communities for 2010 Erie Canalway Photo Contest.Winning entries will be featured in the 2011 Erie Canalways National Heritage Corridor calendar. First, second and third place photographs as well as twelve honorable mentions will be chosen in each of four contest categories: Bridges, Buildings & Locks, For the Fun of It, On the Water and Nature of the Canal. 6th Annual Artist Row Public Market Arts Fair - open to artists and artisans. Sunday, September 19, from 10 am to 4 pm at the Rochester Public Market. The show is juried. Submit 3 examples of work in photo, slide, color copy or CD format. Complete information and application form available at www.marketfriends.org. Application forms also available in person at the Public Market Tent (Saturdays), Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St Rochester, NY 14609 Application fee: $25. ($40 after August 10, 2010). Space is limited -- only 160 booths. All booths are covered. Total $750 in prizes, including $250 for Best in Show. Artist Row Public Market Art Fair is a celebration of art and community spirit, featuring emerging and established local artists and artisans, as well as live music and entertainment. Everyone's favorite market vendors are also be open for food and beverages.

Art by Inches 2010:
the first exhibition and sale of hundreds of original artworks made and donated by celebrities, international and local artists, designers, college students, youths and YOU to benefit the Friends of Swan Library. Each artwork will be 6x6 inches square and signed only on the back, to be exhibited anonymously. All artworks will be for sale to the public for $20 each, to benefit the Friends of Swan Library. Artist’s names will be revealed to the buyer only upon purchase and all artworks will remain on display for the duration of the exhibit. Each artist may submit up to 10 pieces for the show and sale. All media are welcome for this exhibition. All artworks must be able to be displayed by hanging with push pins. (Clay tiles should have holes and a wire for hanging, for instance.) All submissions are due at the Swan Library by September 24th at 5pm and should be delivered or mailed directly to Swan Library, 4 North Main St, Albion, NY 14411. The artworks will be installed and shown at Salih Studio on 24 E. Bank St, Albion, NY, 14411. A preview of the artworks will be held on Friday, October 8 from 6 - 8pm and the Opening and Sale will be held on Saturday, October 9 from 4 - 8pm. Artwork will remain on display through October 29. is currently seeking artists to be displayed at Elmwood Spot Coffee Cafe, 765 Elmwood Ave. in Buffalo. If you would like to be considered for a showing you must drop off or mail a digital file of your work to our store. Please label digital copy as Attention: Scott Tompkins, Art. Works must be framed with a wire stretching across the back for hanging by click-rail system. Artists will not be paid, or charged. The Family Justice Center in Buffalo
is seeking submissions for its third annual juried art show and auction. Mosaic is a silent and live auction featuring a stunning variety of works by WNY artists. Mosaic supports the FJCs mission of providing free, one-stop services to victims of domestic violence. The show is open to artists 16 years of age and older working on canvas and paper in any medium, including photography. The show recognizes the courage and resilience of survivors of domestic violence. Thus, works must be culturally sensitive and focused on the possibility of change and hope. reviews proposals on an ongoing basis. All proposals are reviewed for possible inclusion in solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, and residencies. Proposals that are not returned within a three months may be kept on file for up to a year for further review. Hallwalls artists’ files are open to all local and visiting curators.
