2008 Community Arts Grants
Recipients Announced
Congratulations to the
following organizations who will receive Community Arts Grants
for their projects in 2008:
- Silver Lake
Institute will receive funding for their Cultural Arts
Program: A series of concerts to take place in July and August
at Epworth Hall, Silver Lake.

Cordelia A. Greene
Library will receive funding for their program Celebrating
the Past with Songs: Three musical performances by bands
representing three different periods in the Bicentennial
history of Castile.

Beaver Meadow Audubon
Center will receive funding for their program Bringing the
Old Homestead to Life: Local musicians and interpreters
(storytellers) to present talents at the 11th annual Homestead
Festival.
- Arcade Area
Chamber of Commerce for Arcade Winterfest Committee will
receive funding for Arcade Winterfest, presentation of
Cajun, Zydecho and Dixieland Jazz music and dance of the Bayou
area, Louisiana. Slide presentation of traditions of
Cajun culture.
- Warsaw Historical
Society will receive funding for their production of A
Play: Fugitives; production and presentation of a full-length
play portraying the lives of Warsaw families during the time
of the Fugitive Slave Law (1850).
- Eagle Free Library
will receive funding for Continuing Arts Program: A series
of programs for youth and adults fostering an appreciation
of the arts and providing programs that encourage lifelong
learning.
- Wyoming Historical
Pioneer Association will receive funding for 2008
Pioneer Picnic: 136th annual event including musical and
historical programming showcasing some exceptional local
talent.
- Perry Public
Library will receive funding for A Tale for Three
Counties: Author visit and book discussion.
- Warsaw Public
Library for Full Swing Big Band will receive funding
for a series of concerts of swing band music for all age
groups.
- Wyoming County
Bicentennial Singers will receive funding for two
theatrical productions: Steel Magnolias, a comedy/drama in two
acts; and Trilogy -- An Evening in Three Acts, a small
festival on one-act plays over an evening, dealing with 3
different aspects of the human condition.
- Attica Area
Chamber of Commerce will receive funding for Gazebo in
the Park Concert Series at Veteran's Memorial Park in
Attica.
- Stevens Memorial
Community Library will receive funding for Wacky
Wednesdays: An interactive series of programs to bring the
arts to the rural Attica area while incorporating the NYS
summer reading theme to keep children reading over the
summer.
- Village of Perry
will receive funding for Summer Saturdays Arts Series: 16
Saturdays of outdoor community celebration and appreciation
of the arts.
- Perry Rotary
will receive funding for Last Night Perry 2007: Annual New
Year's event to strengthen community and enhance
appreciation of the arts.
- Cornell
Cooperative Extension will receive funding for their
Garden Day -- Birds & Bees event combining the art of gardening
with visual artists.
- Town of
Orangeville will receive funding for Talent
in Our Town: Three events involving audience participation
featuring storytelling, dramatic arts, and theater arts.
The grants will be
presented at an Awards Ceremony to be held on March 7th.
